BCBA - Board Certified Behavior Analyst
Rita grew up in Coral Springs, Florida. In 2012, she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences with a concentration in Psychology from Florida Atlantic University. She then went on to pursue a graduate degree in Experimental Psychology but discovered Applied Behavior Analysis while babysitting a child diagnosed with autism. Halfway through her psychology program, Rita packed up and moved to Kalamazoo, Michigan to attend Western Michigan University. Here, Rita completed her coursework and practicum experience required to sit for the Board Certified Behavior Analyst exam while also completing her thesis remotely for her Master of Arts degree from Florida Atlantic University in 2016. She was a student in the Behavior Analysis Training System (BATS) lab, under the supervision of Dr. Richard Malott. While taking classes and teaching an undergraduate course in behavior analysis, Rita worked in an early childhood special education classroom, where she implemented Discrete Trial Training (DTT) procedures with children ages 2 to 5. Rita also has experience and coursework in Organizational Behavior Management (OBM). In April 2017, Rita graduated with a Master of Arts degree in Behavior Analysis.
Later moving to North Carolina, Rita worked as an ABA technician and received her BCBA certification in May 2017. She became an in-home ABA provider, serving individuals ages 4 to 20 using Natural Environment Training (NET) and DTT with a focus on Verbal Behavior. In February 2018, she joined the Learn with the Best team!
In her spare time, Rita enjoys hiking with her husband and her dog, Kylie. She also likes cooking, crafting and doing yoga.
If you are going to accomplish much of significance, you have to be passionate. You have to be passionate about improving the well-being of humanity, you have to be passionate about helping people, you have to be passionate about saving the world with behavior analysis.
